The ever popular Phantom of the Opera is a musical masterpiece about impossible love and lost dreams. It follows the tale of The Phantom, a hideously disfigured musical virtuoso who falls in love with the beautiful Christine, his young student. In order to help his protégé gain the lead role, The Phantom pretends to be a ghost and terrorises the crew and cast of the French Opera House until the lead soprano has had enough and leaves with her friend.
This allows Christine to sing the lead for just one night, but then the soprano returns in order to ensure that she is not permanently replaced. The ghost, however, insists that his protégé is given more lead roles. In the meantime, Christine has fallen in love with the Vicomte de Chagny, and this enrages The Phantom, who kidnaps his student, intending to make her his bride forever. The only one who can stop the dastardly scheme and save Christine is her beloved Vicomte, Raoul.
