A smash hit in Chicago and New York, the Tony Award-winning Million Dollar Quartet tells of a night when Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins made music and history together. The actual event happened at Sun Records in Memphis on the 4th of December 1956, and inspired this musical about friendship, fame, divided loyalties, discovery, professional jealousy and amazing music as four of the top talents in their prime got together to make music.
Sam Phillips, founder of Sun Records, arranged the famous meeting and brought Elvis Presley back to the studio that launched his career. At the time, Johnny Cash was a rising star and Carl Perkins was in search of another hit after Blue Suede Shoes, while Jerry Lee Lewis was Phillip’s newest signing.
There are more than 20 hits from music’s golden era in Million Dollar Quartet, including Sixteen Tons, Folsom Prison Blues, Fever, Blue Suede Shoes, (There Will Be) Peace In The Valley, Great Balls Of Fire, Walk The Line, Riders In The Sky, That's All Right, I Hear You Knocking, Hound Dog, See You Later Alligator, Memories Are Made Of This, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On and Down By The Riverside.
