Love Story is a magical musical about the power of love and its ability to overcome any obstacle. Oliver Barrett IV is a student at Harvard and Jenny Cavilleri goes to Radcliffe. He comes from a rich family while she a clever working-class student. They fall in love and get married in spite of the opposition of Olivier’s family, which disowns him.
The couple battle to find enough money to pay for Olivier’s Harvard Law School fees without his family’s support, and Jenny has to get a job as a teacher at a private school. Olivier graduates third in his class and is hired by a law firm in New York, and they decide that they want to have a child. When Jenny fails to fall pregnant after they have been trying for quite a while, the couple goes to a doctor, who tells Olivier that his wife has leukaemia and only has a short time to live.
A celebration of life and love, Love Story contains the inspirational line ‘love means never having to say you’re sorry’. An adaptation of the 1970 film of the same name, Love Story will tug at your heartstrings, and perhaps even break them.
