Music and comedy share the spotlight in Lend Me A Tenor, a hilarious musical production directed by award-winning director Ian Talbot and choreographed by Tony-nominated choreographer Randy Skinner. Laughter comes thick and fast in this gloriously unpredictable romp. Set in 1934, the plot centres on Tito Merelli, the world’s greatest tenor – known to his fans as ‘Il Stupendo’. He descends upon the Grand Opera Company in Cleveland, Ohio, in a bid to save the company by singing the lead in Otello, as part of a gala fundraiser.
In a hilarious sequence of events, the great tenor is accidentally drugged with tranquilisers, and the company’s general manager must do whatever is necessary to ensure that the show goes on. With a riotous mix of mistaken identities and unforeseen romances, this joyous new musical has taken the theatre world by storm. Lend Me A Tenor was originally adapted from Ken Ludwig’s play of the same name, which opened on the West End in 1986 and ran for ten months before moving to Broadway.
With lyrics by Peter Sham and music composed by Brad Carroll, the breathtakingly fresh Lend Me A Tenor guarantees to deliver with double entendres, innuendos and multiple plot twists.
