Set in California, in 1959, Grease is a musical about teen love that follows the story of Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson. Danny is a greaser who falls in love with Australian good girl Sandy during the summer holidays, but when the two return to school they discover that they now attend the same high school, Rydell High, and are worlds apart.
Danny leads a gang of black-jacket boys called the T-Birds, while Sandy is a member of the Pink Ladies, a bunch of girls who all wear pink. When they meet up again at the first pep rally at Rydell, Sandy discovers that Danny isn’t the same boy she met at the beach. They still love each other, however, and the only way they can be together is if they find a way to fit into each other’s world.
So, while Danny sheds his greaser image in order to be accepted by Sandy’s crowd, Sandy takes on a leather-wearing bad girl persona so she can hang with the greasers.
